The long cherished hope and aspiration of the inhabitants of Uttikan and Kerara came into being on the 24" August 1981 when the bud of U.K. Mohabir College blossomed with its fragrance of 128 students and seven teaching and 12 non-teaching staff in the intermediate Arts Class. With a visionary mission to make higher education available to local boys and girls, who are usually afflicted with poverty and thus denied being educated further, was set up this institution.
The sole credit as to the establishment of institution of this kind goes to Late Sj. Baikuntha Nath Pradhan, an eminent educationist who is acclaimed in public to have fathered all the educational institutions coming up in and around Madanpur. A good group of enterprising local young guys did extend their co-operation and catalatic role an along the endeavor of which best reflects the current status of the college.
The session 2010-11 inaugurated a glorious chapter in the history of the college when it was included in the 2(f) and 12 (b) of U.G.C. Act and availed first U.G.0 grant from the session 2011-12 to enhance its academic potentiality.
In its 39 years long history and course of gradual development, the timely help of local M.L.A's and M.P.'s have shaped its configuration to greater extent.
Last, but not the least the contribution of Sj. Nalinikanta Mohanty, former Minister and former M.L.A.. Rajanagar has been of paramount importance on different occasions. when approached to cater to our requirements/demands which is believed to have made this college today a nondeficient on in many respect.
